Caminó con cuidado hasta la cocina y tomó una vela y cerillas. Encendió la vela y la puso en la mesa.
Unos minutos después, su vecina Marta tocó la puerta. “¿También te quedaste sin luz?” preguntó.
“Sí,” dijo Sergio. “Estoy usando una vela.”
Marta levantó una linterna. “Tengo otra. ¿La necesitas?”
“¡Qué amable! Sí, gracias,” respondió él.
Los dos hablaron un rato en el pasillo hasta que la luz volvió. Sergio le devolvió la linterna y dijo: “Gracias por ayudarme.”
“De nada,” dijo Marta. “Para eso están los vecinos.”
He walked carefully to the kitchen and grabbed a candle and matches. He lit the candle and put it on the table.
A few minutes later, his neighbor Marta knocked on the door. “Did you also lose power?” she asked.
“Yes,” Sergio said. “I’m using a candle.”
Marta held up a flashlight. “I have another one. Do you need it?”
“That’s very kind! Yes, thank you,” he answered.
They talked for a moment in the hallway until the lights came back. Sergio returned the flashlight and said, “Thanks for helping me.”
“You’re welcome,” Marta said. “That’s what neighbors are for.”
